I wish there was a cool “About Us” story to tell. The truth is, I got this blog off the ground while trying to sell enterprise software (emphasis on the “trying” part) during the day, and obsessively blogging about Las Vegas after the kids went to bed at night.

While my friends spent weekends around the pool, I was researching happy hours on the Strip, the cheapest suites in Vegas, or some other obscure topic that I thought could help someone, somewhere, plan a better trip.

Needless to say, I found my passion. Something I actually cared about (no offense intended, software sales).

Growing up, my grandparents were Las Vegas enthusiasts and made places like Sands, Dunes, and Imperial Palace a second home. I distinctly remember the matchbooks and slot coin buckets they would bring home from classic properties and now enjoy their photos of classic Vegas.

Below is a photo of my Grandpa Ron ripping a royal at the Sands.

Vegas has so much history. For me though, it’s personal. I can stand on the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. in front of Cromwell and know, from photos, that my Grandpa stood in that exact spot looking across the street at Caesars Palace.

Caesars may have had a smaller footprint, Bellagio may not have been there, and the scenery may have been different. But standing on that corner, I can feel the excitement he must have felt – I can damn near feel his presence.

Las Vegas is a special place.

I started this blog as an impetus to push me out of my comfort zone and experience restaurants, hotels, shows, and attractions that I normally wouldn’t. Exploring parts of the Las Vegas that can’t be seen from the craps table and sharing those experiences with you is something I’ve grown to enjoy.

Ultimately, I just want to help people plan a better Vegas vacation and save some money in the process.

If I think a topic will answer a question people have about Vegas – I try to answer it.
